The Desjardins Entreprises–Lévis-Lotbinière-Bellechasse Center and the Lévis Chamber of Commerce unveiled, on April 14th, the second recipient of the 2021 Desjardins Grand Distinctions, which aim to recognize businesses that are Desjardins members and have excelled in their respective sectors. The recipient is Aliments Martel, a company specializing in high-volume production of ready-to-eat meals, and it has been a well-known player in the pan-Canadian agri-food industry for over 50 years.

In 1965, Raymond Martel decided to start his business (Sandwichs Martel) by selling sandwiches prepared by his mother and his wife, Cécile, on construction sites. Today, Aliments Martel, which is still a family-owned business, supplies convenience stores and supermarkets through its own distribution network, National Brands. Now, it is Serge Martel (the second generation) and his children (the third generation) who contribute to the success and growth of the Martel Group.
